I've been cleaning out my closet over the past week and have 4 big bags of clothing to donate. I wanted to be able to put away clothes without having to stuff them into drawers or closets, so really thought about what I wanted to keep.
Here's what helped me decide:
If the clothing makes you feel uncomfortable, donate it. If you have to keep tucking it in, or pulling it up or down or otherwise adjusting it - just give it away. If you feel ugly in it, donate it! If you keep pulling it out of the closet to wear and then end up changing your mind - just toss it. It's not worth taking up valuable closet space to store unusable clothing.
This swirly tee though, was one item I decided to keep - at least for a little bit. I liked the lollipop-like print. But otherwise, I'm on a roll and tossing out stuff right and left!
Wish me luck!
These are great guidelines for closet-cleaning, Narda. Right to the point, and let's not hang on to the not-good-enough pieces : > I really like your bright tee today and your signature scarf!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patti! I'm still clearing stuff out - it's not over yet!
DeleteI'm glad you kept the tee...and having a day off work certainly makes you look relaxed!
ReplyDeleteHey Terri: yes it's nice to be able to stay home once in a while - almost forgot to set the alarm!
DeleteWay to go with the closet culling! You must feel lighter. I love your colourful top. Great weather for a day off too!
ReplyDeleteI know! can you believe the fab weather? I hope it lasts till October at least.
DeletePurging the closet is ALWAYS refreshing. I need to get TO it; thanks for the reminder. Here's another little trick I use (when I remember to)...when something comes IN, something else has to go OUT!
ReplyDeleteHey Susan - I use the one in one out rule for shoes - got waay too many.
DeleteI love tops with fun designs on them...this one is super cute :)
