Little Old Lady Vest

I've had this vest for yonks but am always hesitant to wear it because it looks like something a little old lady would wear.  But, I love the subtle colour variations and just hate having something in the closet which sits there so hauled it out for today.

It seems to look less little old lady like with a skirt and this time I wore it with brown, so that might be the trick.

I had lots of layers and even wore a sweater-jacket over the whole thing, but our unseasonably warm weather allowed me to go sweater-less the whole day.

It's also been a while since I put my hair up (it's been in a ponytail for weeks), so today I switched back; it feels better - no hair on the neck.

Silk Feeling Polyester

Today being Friday, I thought it safe to wear something a little more casual.  My favourite hot weather clothing is a longer skirt with some room to move.

Pink Calico: Flouncy Skirt

Today's skirt is no exception.  It is actually one of my favourite longer skirts - I think it was the colour which first caught my eye, but the fit and flounce have made it a regular summer staple.

I have no idea about the label - it says Net Girl; it holds its shape well and is thick enough that you don't need the extra layer of a slip. And I love how it is almost a circle skirt except that the waist/hip area fit.

I wore it with my refashioned vest, although the original plan was to wear it vestless:

We're allowed to have one half of our foot (either heel or toe, but not both) uncovered at work so I wore these slip on Bare Traps.  They are from a liquidators; not super cheap at $30, but I've worn them enough times over the past few years to justify the price.

And the scarf is that coveted "100% Silk Feeling Polyester"!  I jest.  I had no idea it was supposed to feel like silk - it doesn't.  But I wonder if someone has bought the scarf thinking it was silk?

See how weavy, thick and burlapy it looks in the photo?  It is actually quite light, soft and floaty.

So, not sure if it is because I looked weird or what but this outfit got a noticeable amount of second glances this morning.  Perhaps it was the sunshine.

Argyle-icious

When you go to the dentist, they always have you lie back in that chair and then tilt it backwards.  So, today, I left my hair down again for just that reason.

Ever since the face plant last month, between dentist, periodontist and prosthodontist, I've been about 5 times already.  There's another year or so of dental work required so you'll probably see more loose hair styles for a bit.

Today's outfit is my usual tube-waist skirt but with a bright argyle vest.  The vest is from the mercadillo in Spain and I just put a Costco t-shirt under it.  I am still wearing thick tights - although the scabs have all healed up nicely, there are still dark bruises on my knees which you can even see under the tights!

I even had a jacket but it was a bit hot for the weather, so I ended up carrying it everywhere.

Big Stripes and a Boar

I bought this big stripey vest thing on a whim and am not sure if I like it or not.

Pink Calico - Stripey Vest

The colours are nice, but the top is a little skimpy (not sure if that is the right word).  I feel like it should have wider shoulders - or maybe I just don't have the right body shape for this garment.  Mongs @ My Thrifty Closet has a good post on body shape this week, and it might be I have something to learn.

I had the urge to wear this chunky necklace even though it didn't really go:

A former co-worker came down for lunch the other day and then talked me into going in with her on a Buy 2 Get 2 sale as she could only find 2 items she liked.  The chunky necklace was one of the items and I wanted to try it out.

And I held the top of the vest together with a pin:

Here is a picture for better detail:

This is actually a pewter Scottish Clan MacLaren pin. Their rallying cry is "Boars Rock".  Nothing to do with me though, the only Scottish in my family is MacIntosh, methinks.
