That Paisley Shirt Again

Do you like to match your clothes to your bag?  I certainly do; so today was another brown day so as not to have to change my purse.

I think all the items in today's outfit have been seen before.  I have on my Wanko jacket again.

Pink Calico - Paisley Shirt

It has become a favourite; it's a knit jacket, so is curve hugging and the best part is that it fits easily under my coats.

I also wore that paisley shirt from Spain over a reddish/burgundy t-shirt.

Pink Calico - Paisley Shirt

It was quite cold yesterday so today I wore a longer skirt and my big-mistake tights.

You can't see them because I also wore knee-high socks over them but here is a pic:  They are from the dollar store - can you tell?

Pink Calico - Mismatched Tights

Actually, I think the dollar store got them at a liquidator's or something because the price stickers were stuck on (instead of printed on) and the tights had a manufacturer's name and address.

Surely this was a production line mistake?  Why would they make tights with a mismatched print?  and a big seam down the side of the leg?

I'm glad they only cost $1 and not the suggested retail price of $15 which was on the package.  Now I'll know to check the pattern before buying.

today i wore:
reddish t-shirt ... old navy
paisley shirt ... ? ... mercadillo, spain
brown jacket ... wanko
long skirt ... london fog
tights ... dollar store
knee highs ... secret
booties ... pera mela

NWT

For those who know something about Canada, NWT means the Northwest Territories, that cold polar area up north where there are few trees and fewer people.  For thrifty fashionistas on the other hand, NWT means New With Tags and that's exactly what I got for $5 the other day: a NWT blue print tank!

I decided to wear it for the Visible Monday and Monday Mingle link-up:

Here is a closeup of the print, I really like it:

Being a matchy-matchy type of person, I then wore all sorts of other blue clothing. Tights:

and a bracelet got on the same trip for $2:

The only jarringly non-matching piece is my Spain futbol bracelet which I'm wearing for soccer:

Thick Woolly Tights

Today's outfit is a rag-tag assortment of miscellaneous pieces and I'm not very happy with it. I love the neutral colours, but don't think they look very good on me.

This was not my first choice this morning, but at the last second I changed my mind and put this on, so perhaps a bit of a mistake.

The pose reminds me of the scene in the Sound of Music, where the Von Trapp family is at the Salzburg Music Festival, though I look more like Fraulein Schweiger who took 3rd place.

Pink Calico - Neutrals

And to top it off, I only had 1 pair of those Euro tights in a beigey colour which as you know got damaged in the fall.  I knew I should've bought more than one pair in that colour!  Thus, the medieval thick woollen stockings look.

The skirt is my usual tube-waist skirt, which from the photo, I think would look better with a shorter, more fitted top. The mock-turtle is an ancient hand-me-down - it's that weird material that is both stretchy and scratchy.  Excluding the shoes - which themselves were already on sale for boxing day and bogos to boot, the jacket was the most expensive clothing item but only $6 from a liquidator's.

I tried it with this neckace which is from a local designer.  It came with earrings but I didn't wear them.

Pink Calico - Necklace

I'm trying a larger size of photo, so hopefully it will show more details.

Snip Those Plastic Rings and Ties

I always cut those plastic 6-pack rings before recycling them so that they don't accidentally get caught around the neck of a bird or animal, should they for some reason not make it to the recycling plant.  Newspapers and magazines also come bundled in a plastic tie, albeit a much bigger one.

Today when out for a walk, one of those plastic ties for bundles of newspapers crossed my path.

I was walking quite quickly when all of a sudden ... face-plant!  I tripped by entangling my feet in a plastic tie.

Luckily, I broke my fall with knees and the heels of my hands before landing on my teeth and cheek!

So I spent half of the day looking like this. As you can see, there is nothing broken and I escaped with a scraped knee, sore teeth and some bruises.

I wore the skirt I altered back in January - it fits nicely and is very comfy.  It looked to be a rainy day, so I wore my knee-high Docs also.

I also wore excellent tights that I got in Spain from a shop called Calcedonia.  They are triple-stitched and have a nice wide band across the tummy so they don't bind.

Unfortunately, the fall completely wrecked them:
I didn't bother to buy new ones, just pulled the torn ones right over the dressing.  I wonder if there is some way to salvage them?  Hmm ...
